Electric Ferraris and my mom

Progress is cool, no matter the generation

Editor’s Note: Google is getting hammered this morning after a revenue miss. Who could have seen that coming? Of course, our own Jack Carter. But anyone who followed HIS strategy could be sitting pretty right now. You’re about to read about why I’m bullish on tech, but when you’re done, join Jack here to learn how he’ll be playing the Google fallout!

Hey y’all,

I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Ferrari is preparing to unveil an all-new, all-electric sports car later this year.

I’ve heard about it, because yesterday, my mom told me about it on two different phone calls (her memory is fine, she just likes to talk… a lot!)

She was so excited about it, how cool it looked, how “futuristic…”

But here are some important things to note about my mom:

She’s not particularly into cars
She’s never particularly cared about Electric Vehicles
She’s not even particularly progressive on the environment

Essentially, not someone you would immediately assume would be fired up about a new electric Ferrari.

So, I took some time to think about why she was so excited about this breakthrough.

And then it hit me:

Progress is cool. Full stop.

When human beings make huge leaps forward, it should be celebrated.

The internet went crazy a few months ago when Elon Musk’s SpaceX successfully launched and retrieved a rocket using what it calls “chopsticks,” marking a huge leap forward for the potential cost and progress of space exploration:

This was during the height of the election, when half the country hated Elon’s guts (totally different from today!)

But most people were still able to put those political differences aside and simply admit: this was friggin’ COOL!

Technological advancement is an awesome thing, and it’s a thing that America should be aggressive in pursuing.

So when I jump online and see headlines like this one, I can’t say I’m surprised…

Why wouldn’t you bet on the most brilliant, most innovative, and most well-resourced companies to be those companies that make the biggest breakthroughs in the future?

I will always be bullish on tech. Especially in the age of AI, when advancements could seem almost exponential.

And if I ever have any doubts, I’ll just think about my mom and the electric Ferrari.

Actually, I probably won’t need to think about it… she’ll just remind me on our next call!

To your prosperity,

Stephen Ground
