It means last but one. It describes today perfectly. Tomorrow is the last day of the month and the last day of the week. The week open is 6040.75 and the month open of 5982.25. Today sets up tomorrow, and tomorrow sets up the next month and the next week. In addition, February is the penultimate month of the first quarter. Therefore the way we close February sets up March. The first quarter opened at 5949.25. Today and tomorrow the three numbers to watch are 6040.75, 5982.25, and 5949.25. Next week two of those numbers will be replaced, but the 5949.25 will still be the open of the quarter and the year.
