VIDEO REMINDER In Today’s Masters in Trading: Live In 2025, the “Taiwan question” will be one of the biggest issues looming over U.S.-China relations… And this week, we have our clearest indication yet that tensions are coming to a boil. China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) just announced that it would bar the export of “dual-use items” from 28 U.S.-based companies. Dual-use items are essentially technologies or materials with both civilian and military applications, covering everything from metals used in semiconductors to various electronics. Moreover, MOFCOM also announced 10 more U.S. companies would be added to its “unreliable entities” list over their arms sales to Taiwan. Among the companies targeted are General Dynamics, Boeing, and Lockheed Martin. Significantly, these are some of the largest players in the military defense space, with applications ranging from attack drones to fighter jets. Looking ahead, we can expect a whole lot of volatility from here in the form of supply chain disruptions and heightened fluctuations in the stocks of the affected companies. As options traders, there are distinct possibilities brewing here. Increased volatility could create even more trading opportunities for us over time… And even weakness in defense may create the perfect opportunity to gain more exposure to other sectors like tech that could climb higher from here. That’s why we need to keep our eyes on how this situation plays out. I wouldn’t be surprised to find some unique options plays that benefit from all this volatility in the near term. In today’s Masters in Trading Live at 11 a.m. ET, I’ll explain the details of China’s latest move and show you what opportunities I see opening up from here in the options market.
