NOVEMBER 25, 2024       Hey y’all, Maybe it’s because I drove home yesterday for the Thanksgiving holiday, but I’m feeling grateful this morning. Even though I left the warm and sunny confines of Florida to return to the gray, leafless, and frigid Midwest, it really is the time of year to reflect on everything you have and be grateful.  For me, it’s been a year of ups and downs, some real challenges and some real triumphs. I got to cross off an item from the top of my bucket list when I went to Germany for a friend’s wedding…   And I got to start writing to all of you every day, and take on this new role with ProsperityPub. Pretty exciting! And I’m thankful for some BIG things to come in the future. I can’t wait to share some of those with you! I hope you’re all feeling the spirit a bit as well — but even if you aren’t, give it a shot. Sometimes listing things you’re grateful for can change your mood whether you really want it to or not! Meanwhile, in the headlines, President Trump has picked Scott Bessent as his treasury secretary, pictured below with Senator Tim Scott:   I’m not going to pretend I’m an expert on the guy’s credentials, but it seems like a pretty solid pick and the markets are reacting positively. Bessent rose to prominence with Soros Fund Management and made them a lot of money by shorting currencies — something of a calling card for Soros throughout his career. He’s also a big proponent of cryptocurrency, saying: “crypto is about freedom, and the crypto economy is here to stay.”  Overall, in a slate of cabinet picks that has ranged from the inspired to the truly bizarre, Bessent’s ascendence seems to be on the much more orthodox side of things.
