Artifical Intelligence is Advancing the Capabilities of the Space Industry

Artifical Intelligence is transforming the world. 

This wide ranging tool has application across many industries allowing us to rethink how we integrate information, analyze data and improve decsionmaking. 

The space industry is no different. 

Small satellites, 'SmallSats' (miniature spacecraft under 1,100 lbs), alone are expected to grow 258% in the next decade to $55.6 billion with 18,460 already launched. SmallSats launched in 2021 alone totaled 1,738, a new all-time record, 1.5x more than in 2020.

A Florida-based satellite manufacutring and space service company recently announced the acquisition of a firm specialiing in artificial intelligence software and hardware for space applications.
